The Arizona Diamondbacks have recalled RHP Jon Duplantier from Triple-A Reno and have optioned infielder Kevin Cron to Reno.

The right-hander will be making his first Major League start against the New York Mets at Chase Field on Friday night.

Duplantier, 24, has had a yo-yo of a season thus far as this will be the fourth time he has been recalled to the D-backs within the first two months of the 2019 campaign.

In that time, the 24-year-old went 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA and a .195 opponent batting average to go along with 12 strikeouts and one save in 12 innings pitched (five appearances).

Duplantier came into the 2019 season as the D-backs’ No. 2 prospect according to MLB.com and Baseball America, who also rated him as the No. 72 and No. 84 prospect in the top 100, respectively.

But what makes this time around different is the fact that he won’t be used in the bullpen.

Cron, 26, made his Major League debut after being recalled from Reno on May 24.

In seven career games in MLB, the 26-year-old has a .231 average (3-for-13) with two RBI and three doubles.
