New Orleans Pelicans power forward Julius Randle is interested in the Phoenix Suns, according to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station‘s John Gambadoro.

Randle is expected to decline a player option for the 2019-20 season at over $9 million to become an unrestricted free agent.

Gambadoro also expects the Suns to be interested in the services of the former Kentucky Wildcat.

Randle, 24, started in 49 of his 73 appearances on the 2018-19 campaign in New Orleans.

The 24-year-old is coming off of the best year of his career as he set career highs in points (21.4), free throw percentage (73.1), three-point percentage (34.4) and minutes (30.6). He also had the second-best rebounds per game average of his career at 8.7.

Randle was drafted No. 7 overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers where he spent four seasons with the Lakers and averaged 15.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and shot 25.7% from three in 27.8 minutes per game.

The only Suns to average more points or rebounds than Randle in 2018-19 were Devin Booker (26.6) and Deandre Ayton (10.3), respectively.
