Larry Fitzgerald is a John Skelton fan

John Skelton is winning his teammates over while winning
games.
The quarterback, who has guided the Cardinals to a five
wins this season, has impressed his star receiver.
“John has done a terrific job, he just finds a way to get
it done with his legs, with his arm,” Larry Fitzgerald
said. “In the huddle, it’s like sitting in there with a
two-time Super Bowl champion because he
shows no emotion, spits the play out like he’s been doing
it forever.
“He’s not apprehensive to make throws; he just steps in
there and does his thing.”
Fitzgerald said the team is lucky to have Skelton, and no
matter what one thinks about the QB’s abilities, it’s hard
to argue. After all, while Kevin Kolb was the starter
going into the year, injury problems have sent him to the
sideline. Would the Cardinals be 7-7 without the second
year pro from Fordham? Doubtful.
And because of that, this season has taken on an entirely
different tone. At 1-6 most people felt 2011 would be
finding out what the team had in Kevin Kolb and whether or
not he could be the long-term answer at quarterback.
Now, though, it’s about possibly making the playoffs.
“Next season, we’ll worry about that when we get there,”
Fitzgerald said. “The time is now, that’s my mindframe, I
know my teammates are thinking the same way.”
