For Amy Bockerstette, things couldn’t get any better after receiving a scholarship to golf at Paradise Valley Community College, becoming the first golfer with down syndrome to ever earn one.

Then, she hit the par-3 at the 16th hole at the Waste Management Phoenix Open with her favorite golfer Gary Woodland standing by her side in February.

But Sunday, things went from good to great.

Woodland ended up winning the 2019 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, his first major championship ever and sixth pro tournament win. After the celebration, Bockerstette got a call.

It was Woodland.

“I used your positive energy,” Woodland told Bockerstette. “You were awesome.”

He also let Bockerstette know he’d see her soon.

“We’re going to play some golf,” he said.

Her reaction to the call? Giddy.

But nothing could be compared to Bockerstette’s joy when the final putt of Woodland’s was sunk though.

But the phone call wasn’t the end of the surprises for Bockerstette, as the two met up in New York City Tuesday when Woodland appeared on NBC’s The Today Show.

Things just keep getting better.
