The Arizona Coyotes will open the 2019-20 season in Anaheim to face the Ducks, it became known Friday when the league’s home openers were announced.
That game will take place on Thursday, Oct. 3. Arizona will host the Boston Bruins two days later for its first home game of the new season on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m.
The rest of the season’s schedule will be announced on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
The Coyotes opened on the road against the Ducks two years ago. Arizona jumped out to a 4-1 lead in that game, but eventually fell 5-4.
That same season, the Coyotes’ third home game was against the Boston Bruins. Arizona lost that game 6-2.
Arizona is hoping for better luck this year with a similar start to its schedule, trying to improve on a 2018-19 season in which the team just barely missed the playoffs. This will be the first time in franchise history the Coyotes’ home opener is against the Bruins.
The Coyotes are 14-6-2 in home openers since the team moved to Arizona.
