ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS
Diamondbacks option first baseman Kevin Cron to Reno

The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned first baseman Kevin Cron to the Triple-A Reno Aces following the team’s 11-5 loss to the Giants on Friday night.
A corresponding move was not immediately announced.
It could be a means to add another arm to the bullpen, which will need replenishing after T.J. McFarland (three innings) and Matt Andries (two innings) pitched long enough on Friday to likely make themselves unavailable for the next day or two.
In 22 games this season, Cron has made 51 plate appearances and hit .217 with four home runs and 11 RBI. The 26-year-old was batting .339 with 21 home runs in 44 games in Triple-A before he was recalled by the Diamondbacks.
Jake Lamb has been on the injured list since early April but is nearing return, which will add another corner infielder to the roster when that happens. Thus, it’s not clear when Cron would be able to get back to the major league roster.
