Guard Jimmer Fredette’s odd, brief tenure with the Phoenix Suns has met its end.

With an end-of-the-week deadline for the Suns to pick up an option on his contract, the former college star and 2011 lottery pick will instead join the Golden State Warriors’ Summer League squad, Warriors assistant general manager Larry Harris told 98.7 The Game.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania confirmed Phoenix opted to decline the option.

Fredette signed with the Suns in late-March of last year through the end of the season, and his contract included a team option that would pay him $1,988,119 next year had it been exercised.

He appeared in six games with Phoenix. Over those brief stints, he shot 8-of-29 overall and missed all 13 of his three-point attempts.

Most curious was his March 25 game against the Utah Jazz, where the guard who starred at nearby BYU took 10 shots and made just one over 14 minutes as Suns teammate Devin Booker chased a 60-point game, finishing with 59 points.

Fredette’s best game with Phoenix came on April 3 against Utah, when he scored 10 points in 22 minutes.

After playing at BYU, Fredette was selected 10th overall in 2011 and in a draft-night deal was acquired by the Sacramento Kings. He played for Sacramento, Chicago, New Orleans and New York before leaving the NBA for China in 2016 prior to attempting an NBA comeback last year with the Suns.

Fredette has NBA averages of 3.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists on 41% shooting.
