Devonaire Doutrive is stepping out of the transfer portal less than a month after he entered it.

The Arizona Wildcats sophomore guard wrote on his Twitter account Monday that he would not be transferring. He even apologized for the mixed signals.

His announcement that he will stay with the Wildcats came hours after fellow reserve guard Alex Barcello used Twitter to announce his plans to transfer.

Barcello’s departure and the decision by incoming freshman Terry Armstrong to skip college likely played a role in Arizona retaining Doutrive, a raw guard who could now earn a chance to play next season as a sophomore.

Doutrive averaged 3.3 points and 3.0 rebounds on 46% shooting in 11 minutes per game last year. The 6-foot-5 guard appeared in 26 games as a freshman and most notably hit a game-winner off a putback on Feb. 28 in a 74-72 victory over Oregon State.

As for the backcourt depth, the Wildcats will welcome McDonald’s All-Americans Nico Mannion and Josh Green, but now Doutrive will join returnees Brandon Williams and Dylan Smith, plus transfer Max Hazzard, as rotation options for head coach Sean Miller.
