When a tragedy struck close to home, Buffalo Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson knew that he had to step up.
Lawson has pledged to pay for a funeral for an 11-year old girl in Anderson, South Carolina.
Ja’Naiya Scott was sitting on her family’s couch one night with her older sister and cousin. Suddenly, more than 35 shots erupted around 1:30 a.m.
The shooting injured Scott’s 18-year old sister and her 11-year-old cousin. Ja’Naiya was taken to AnMed Health Medical Center where she died in the emergency room.
“It could have been my little sister,” Lawson told The Greenville News Wednesday. “I’ve got a little sister around that age, and it could have been one of my family members.”
