A former Arizona Coyote is headed to Montreal.

Free agent forward Nick Cousins has agreed to a one-year, one-way deal with the Canadiens, Montreal announced Friday.

The deal is worth $1 million.

The Canadiens mark Cousins’ third NHL team after spending his first three seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers before playing the last two in Arizona.

In two seasons with the Coyotes, Cousins registered 19 goals and 27 assists for a total of 46 points.

His goal scoring decreased last season (7) after making 12 in 2017-18, while his assist numbers improved from seven to 20.

Over the course of his career (259 games), Cousins has made 31 goals and 42 assists for 73 points.

The announcement of the deal comes following the Coyotes decision to sign Michael Bunting and Hudson Fasching to two-year, two-way contracts.

Prior to Friday’s signings, the team re-signed RFA Lawson Crouse to a three-year deal. They’ve also added pieces through trades, acquiring winger Phil Kessel and center Carl Soderberg in June.
