Ketel Marte would not be batting eighth in the Arizona Diamondbacks lineup.

But for the MLB All-Star Game, it’s a different story.

Marte will start at second base and bat eighth for the National League at Tuesday’s 2019 MLB All-Star game in Cleveland.

Lineups were announced Monday during a press conference for the Midsummer Classic featuring NL manager Dave Roberts and American League skipper Alex Cora.

Marte is batting behind Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras and in front of Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr.

  1. Brewers LF Christian Yelich
  2. Cubs SS Javier Baez
  3. Braves 1B Freddie Freeman
  4. Dodgers RF Cody Bellinger
  5. Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado
  6. Pirates DH/1B Josh Bell
  7. Cubs C Willson Contreras
  8. Diamondbacks 2B Ketel Marte
  9. Braves CF Ronald Acuna Jr.

This is Marte’s first All-Star appearance after being voted in by the fans to start at second base.

Marte is slashing .311/.359/.559 this season with 20 home runs and 53 RBIs.

He is currently tied for first in the NL with first baseman Freddie Freeman in hits (110).

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Hyun-jin Ryu, who leads the league in ERA (1.73), will start for the NL and face off against Houston Astros ace Justin Verlander, who is starting for the AL.

Marte was supposed to be joined by D-backs ace Zack Greinke at the All-Star game, but he will not be attending due to a “personal matter.”

The 2019 MLB All-Star Game at Progressive Field will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
