Phoenix Suns fans give Markieff Morris a warm reception in return home

Mar 10, 2015, 2:06 AM | Updated: 5:35 pm

After Feb. 28’s blowout loss to the visiting San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns forward Markieff Morris had some harsh words for the home fans.

“Nobody wins every game but we need the support … to know our fans are going to be behind us, and I don’t feel like, this year, that they’re behind us,” he said.

If Suns fans were upset about those comments, the nine days the team spent on the road since then was apparently long enough for them to forgive him.

Morris received a warm reception from Suns fans before Monday night’s game against the Golden State Warriors, Phoenix’s first home game since his remarks.

An hour earlier, Markieff and his brother Marcus surprised some Suns fans who arrived early to the arena.

Earlier on Monday, Morris said he was ready for whatever reaction fans were prepared to give him.

Morris scored just four points as the Suns fell to the Warriors 98-80 on Monday.
