During Friday’s edition of Arizona Cardinals training camp, one player was clearly missing from the linebacker group in Haason Reddick.
Head coach Kliff Kingsbury provided some insight on the linebacker’s absence on Saturday, saying he will miss a few weeks following a knee procedure.
“It was a knee, a scope. We feel fortunate that we’ll have him back,” Kingsbury said when asked about Reddick and other injuries on the team. “It’ll just be a few weeks.”
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported on the knee scope following Kingsbury’s morning interview, saying Reddick’s procedure was to trim his meniscus.
Garafolo added that he figures Reddick will be out until close to the start of the regular season.
Playing in every game (32) since he entered the league as a first-round draft pick in 2017, Reddick has recorded 112 tackles, 12 of which were for loss, 6.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and five passes defensed.
Reddick saw a steady improvement in his second season with the Cardinals, recording 80 tackles (eight for loss), 4.0 sacks, a forced fumble and five passes defensed. He started a total of 12 games for Arizona.
Linebacker Dennis Gardeck was receiving first-team reps in place of Reddick on Friday as the team prepares for the season.
EXTRA POINTS
– Kingsbury added that D.J. Swearinger is “day-to-day” with “nothing major.”
– Defensive lineman Vincent Valentine, who went down with an injury during the team’s training camp on Friday, is not expected to be out long, per Kingsbury.
