The Arizona Diamondbacks made a second trade ahead of Wednesday’s MLB trade deadline after first sending top prospect Jazz Chisholm to the Miami Marlins for pitcher Zac Gallen.

The next move was of lesser consequence as the team sent demoted catcher John Ryan Murphy to the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations, as reported by The Athletic’s Robert Murray.

The Braves, who currently have catchers Tyler Flowers and Brian McCann on their 25-man roster, get the D-backs backstop who was most recently playing in Triple-A Reno after being designated for assignment by the D-backs in May and sent to Reno on June 1.

Murphy, 28, spent the last three seasons with the D-backs and hit .195 with 13 home runs in that span, during which he appeared in 117 games. This year, he was hitting .177 with four home runs when he was DFA’d.

On the 25-man roster, the D-backs already have Carson Kelly and Alex Avila. Caleb Joseph is on the 40-man roster but was in Reno as of Wednesday.
