Spurs claim 11th straight win, rout Phoenix Suns: By the Numbers

Apr 13, 2015, 2:23 AM | Updated: 5:00 am

The Phoenix Suns are just counting down the minutes to the end of their regular season.

In their second-to-last game of the year, the struggling Suns took on the red-hot San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center on Sunday, and the defending NBA champions did not disappoint.

Phoenix actually put up a decent fight for a majority of the contest, but the Spurs were in control throughout. The Suns hung around by about a 10-point deficit for much of the evening, even coming within single digits late in the third quarter, but the home team started to crush Phoenix’s hopes in the final period.

The Spurs held off Phoenix by a final of 107-91, claiming their 11th victory in a row. San Antonio has blown out almost all of its opponents over this recent streak, and Sunday’s result was quite similar.

Jeff Hornacek’s group fell to 39-42, with its final game of the season taking place Tuesday at home against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Spurs (55-26) hit the road to play New Orleans on Wednesday in the former’s final game of the regular season.

Here’s a look at Sunday’s game in San Antonio, by the numbers:

1-3

Phoenix finished the season series 1-3 against the defending champs, losing the last three contests. The two most recent defeats came by double-digit margins.

1-9

The sliding Suns have won only one of their last 10 games, as many have come against playoff-bound teams. A two-point win over Utah last Saturday stands between a five-game Suns skid and the current four-game slide.

2

Some stat-keeping sites had injured Suns guard Brandon Knight credited with two minutes of playing time. The fourth-year guard is expected to miss the rest of the season with a heel injury, and he wasn’t even with the team at the AT&T Center.

Check out his inclusion in ESPN’s box score immediately following the end of the game:
