Is it time for Pat Riley to take over the Heat?
There were various points in the NBA season where the Miami Heat struggled.
They were always able to bounce back, but every time the Heat were in trouble, people started wondering when Miami Heat President Pat Riley would take over the team, or at least provide his two cents.
Although people were convinced it would happen, the moment never came.
Riley has faith in Head Coach Eric Spoelstra and no matter what happened during the course of the 82-game season, Riley let Spoelstra coach the team without interference.
However, Sports 620 KTAR’s Ron Wolfley said on Doug and Wolf that now may be the time for Pat Riley to come out of the shadows.
“I would not be surprised if Pat Riley got involved,” Wolfley said. “If somebody told me that Pat Riley sat down with Eric Spoelstra and LeBron James and Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh and it was just them sitting around a rectangle talking about [Game 5], it would not surprise me in the least.”
Riley hasn’t gotten in Spoelstra’s way at any point this season.
Riley is one of the greatest coaches in NBA history and one of the brightest minds in the NBA, if he thinks stepping in will get the Heat a ring, then he will.
While stepping in may be an interesting thought, Riley has not stepped in all year and has always backed Spoelstra, but when championships are on the line, things are always subject to change.
