The Arizona Coyotes had just one remaining restricted free agent to settle things with, and the team announced on Saturday that that matter has been resolved.

The Coyotes announced that Hill signed a one-year, two-way contract.

According to The Athletic‘s Craig Morgan, Hill had agreed to accept his one-year qualifying offer.

By tendering to Hill a qualifying offer (the definition of which is outlined in the CBA), the Coyotes get the first right of refusal as it pertains to Hill signing a new contract this offseason after his previous one expired.

This is often used as a means to ensure the player doesn’t become an unrestricted free agent while the two sides work out a new contract, but in this instance, it appeared Hill just took the Q.O.

Hill, 23, has appeared in 17 NHL games over the last two seasons, including 13 last year when the Coyotes saw injuries to their goaltending corps.

The British Columbia native registered a .901 save percentage and a 2.76 goals against average for the Coyotes last season.

He enters the 2019-20 season figuring to be the third goalie on the Coyotes’ depth chart behind, in no particular order as of yet, Darcy Kuemper and Antti Raanta.
