Coming off the Diamondbacks’ successful Haboob Globe giveaway on Saturday afternoon, baseball promotions continue to be glorified in the minor leagues.

Two D-backs minor league affiliate teams have been nominated for the Minor League Baseball Specialty Jersey Golden Bobblehead Award Fan Vote, which is a mouthful.

The Reno Aces (Triple-A) and Kane County Cougars (low Single-A) were nominated for their 90’s night and atomic pork chops jerseys, respectively.

The Aces’ 90’s jersey is one of 12 options in the Group 1 pool and has print that resembles the style from the hit TV show “Friends.”

In Group 4, the Cougars’ atomic pork chops jersey is up against one fewer competitor with only 11 options to choose from. The uniform features a blue base that fades from a darker to lighter shade from top to bottom and an atomic cartoon patch on the right sleeve.

The famous pork chop sandwich has been a staple at the Geneva, Ill. ballpark for years and its proximity to the Fermilab Nuclear Plant in neighboring Batavia, Ill. were the inspirations for the unusual name choice.

Both squads need votes to advance to the final round. Voting is open until Friday on MiLB.com when winners will advance to the finals. Finals voting will be open from Monday, Aug. 12 through Friday, Aug. 16.

Those who submit votes will be eligible for a drawing for free Bose headphones and one item from the MiLB shop.

As for the Haboob Globe night, the D-backs topped the Washington Nationals 18-7 in front of a crowd of 33,966 fans. It was the seventh largest crowd of the season at Chase Field and the largest crowd for a home game since Star Wars Day against the Brewers on July 20.
