Former Diamondbacks ace pitcher Zack Greinke is scheduled to start for the Houston Astros Tuesday evening, his first appearance for the team since being trade on the July 31 deadline.
Greinke was involved in a blockbuster trade that sent four Astros prospects to the D-backs, including three of their top-5.
Before joining the American League West divisional leader, Greinke, an All-Star selection, was performing exceptionally for the D-backs.
In 23 starts, he holds a 10-4 record with a 2.90 ERA and 135 strikeouts.
In addition to his stellar pitching, Greinke has been a superb fielder, winning a Gold Glove in each of the last three seasons.
His debut against the Colorado Rockies, a team he’s very familiar with, comes just days after Aaron Sanchez and other members of the Astros pitching staff completed a combined no-hitter against the Mariners.

In his career versus the Rockies, Greinke is 13-7 in 34 games with a 3.68 ERA and 207 strikeouts.
He’s faced Colorado more than any other team throughout his career.
Despite his impressive resume, Greinke is tabbed as the Astros’ No. 3 starter in the rotation behind Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole, both of whom are top-two in Major League Baseball in strikeouts and top-three in opponent batting average.
Since making his MLB debut in 2004, the Astros will be the sixth team Greinke joins and third in the American League.
