Jayden Daniels, who was recently named Arizona State’s starting quarterback by head coach Herm Edwards, was ranked as the 97th best quarterback in the FBS by Pro Football Focus.

Daniels is on-track to become the first true freshman in ASU history to start a season opener.

Before committing to ASU, the 6-foot-3, 180 pound freshman received offers from Alabama, Georgia and other teams in the Pac-12.

The No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the 2019 class and 35th-ranked prospect by 247Sports, was a finalist in The Opening and Elite 11, two of the nations premier competitions for top quarterback prospects, and will replace Manny Wilkins this season.

Daniels landed the starting quarterback spot ahead of Joey Yellen and Ethan Long, who are also true freshman in addition to winning the competition over redshirt junior Dillon Sterling-Cole.

He has all the high school accolades following him from Cajon High School in California. His background will go a long way in keeping him atop the depth chart above Dillon Sterling-Cole.

The quarterback ranking by PFF was released only to the 71st overall with the remainder of the list being released later this week.

Rutgers’ Artur Sitkowski was placed at the bottom of the list at 130.
