Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Robbie Ray has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right lower back spasm, the team announced.
On Wednesday, Ray was pulled from his start against the Colorado Rockies after just two innings. He attempted to warm-up for the third inning but was unable to continue due to the back spasm.
Ray has gone 10-7 with a 3.99 ERA in 26 starts and 142.0 innings this season.
The D-backs recalled Stefan Chrichton and Jon Duplantier from Triple-A Reno.
Duplantier has started three games this season for the D-backs and appeared in eight total. In those three starts, between May 31 and June 11, he gave up nine earned runs in 13 innings.
In total, he is 1-1 with a 4.32 ERA. In 10 starts in Reno, he is 0-2 with a 6.39 ERA.
Chrichton has 13 relief appearances for the D-backs this season. He has held opponents scoreless in 11 of them and has a 3.24 ERA and 0.90 WHIP over 16.2 innings.
In Triple-A, he has an ERA of 4.03 in 51.1 innings.
