ASU hockey got help from a Scottsdale native and NHL star to debut its new uniforms for the upcoming season.

Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews donned the new Gold Heritage adizero jersey in a video posted to the Sun Devils twitter account.

With Arizona State blazed in maroon across the front of the gold jersey, a thick maroon stripe sandwiched by thin white stripes near the bottom and on the arms, and “Matthews” written across the back, the hockey star skates around the rink before ASU hockey equipment coordinator Jon Laughner sees and yells toward him.

“What are you doing?”

“What?” Matthews responds, skating over. “Looks pretty good on me, doesn’t it?”

“Looks pretty sick.”

Adidas Hockey posted a video to twitter with a close-up view of the jersey, which includes details such as “Forks Up” written on the neck and a dotted design of the number on the back.

The captain’s patch is in the shape of Arizona with a “C” in the middle.

ASU hockey is coming off its first 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Hockey Tournament appearance in the four-year history as an NCAA sanctioned sport.

The Sun Devils finished 21-13-1, earning the first independent at-large bid to the tournament in 27 years.

They have their sites on improving that record and advancing further into the tournament.

And though ASU may be among the best-dressed, opponents can breathe a sigh of relief that Matthews won’t actually be on the ice during the games.
