ASU QB Daniels, Arizona WR Curry on freshman All-American watch list

The Football Writers Association of America named Arizona State quarterback Jayden Daniels and Arizona receiver Jalen “Boobie” Curry to the FWAA Freshman All-American watch list, the organization announced Friday.
Daniels won a starting role for the Sun Devils to become the first true freshman to open an ASU football season as the starting quarterback.
The 4-star prospect out of San Bernardino, Calif., was ranked by 247 Sports as the second-best dual-threat quarterback in the 2019 recruiting class.
Arizona State will debut its new signal-caller Thursday at home against Kent State, a game that will be broadcast on KTAR News 92.3.
Curry, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 207 pounds, is listed as a co-starter for the Wildcats as they prepare to open their season Saturday against Hawaii.
A 4-star prospect out of St. Pius X High School in Houston, he was the 27th-ranked wideout in the recruiting class, per 247 Sports.
The FWAA watch list included 10 other players from the Pac-12: Drake Jackson (USC), Sean Rhyan (UCLA), Dimitri Stanley (Colorado), Mark Perry (Colorado), Mycah Pittman (Oregon), Kayvon Thibodeaux (Oregon), Verone McKinley III (Oregon), Cameron Williams (Washington), Ryan Sanborn (Stanford) and Ben Lennon (Utah).
