The Arizona Wildcats kicked off their 2019 season in a road matchup against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors.

The two schools provided fireworks throughout the game that ultimately ended with a 45-38 victory for Hawaii despite Arizona’s defense forcing six turnovers.

But for a game that consisted of a total of 11 touchdowns and 1,134 combined yards, the most crucial play was one that didn’t result in a score.

In an attempt to battle back from a 10-point deficit with five minutes to go in the fourth quarter, Arizona had an opportunity to tie the game with 10 seconds left from the Hawaii 31-yard line.

Unfortunately for the Wildcats, quarterback Khalil Tate came up just one yard short on the final play.

Tate was 22-of-39 on the night, tossing three touchdowns for 361 yards with a pair of interceptions to go along with a team-high 108 rushing yards on 13 carries.

Arizona will return to action in its home opener against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks on Sept. 7.
