Cardinals offensive tackle Korey Cunningham said on a quickly-deleted Instagram post Wednesday that Arizona agreed to trade him to the New England Patriots.

ESPN’s Field Yates reported that Arizona was expected to acquire a sixth-round pick in the deal, and the team confirmed that exchange on Thursday, pending a physical on Cunningham.

“I was just notified that I have been traded to the New England Patriots,” part of Cunningham’s post read.

It remained on the social media website for about half an hour before it was deleted.

Cunningham appeared in six games for the Cardinals toward the end of his rookie season after Arizona selected him in the seventh round (254th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft. He earned snaps at right tackle and later moved to the left side before he ended the season on injured reserve with a foot issue.

His departure leaves the tackle depth for Arizona even more in question, at least for the next few days.

D.J. Humphries is the clear starting left tackle and Cunningham had received reps as the apparent backup. With Marcus Gilbert on the right side, 26-year-old Rees Odhiambo appears to be the Cardinals’ backup tackle on either side of the line.

Arizona also has this year’s seventh-round pick (248th overall), Josh Miles, currently on the roster. The Morgan State product is considered a developmental player, but he earned significant time in the third preseason game of the season Saturday against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Cardinals will likely scour the waiver wire over the weekend for additional options at offensive tackle after all NFL teams cut their rosters down to 53 players.
