Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyle Sloter is among six practice squad additions by the Arizona Cardinals, giving the franchise a third quarterback behind starter Kyler Murray and backup Brett Hundley.

Linebacker Pete Robertson, who made a case to land on the Cardinals roster before the team signed outside linebacker Cassius Marsh over the weekend, was also among the other players added to the practice squad on Tuesday.

Arizona also signed cornerback Jalen Davis, running back Justin Davis, receiver Johnnie Dixon and linebacker Kylie Fitts. To make room for the additions, the Cardinals released cornerback Nate Brooks and outside linebacker Vontarrius Dora.

Sloter, who was part of the Vikings’ cuts on Saturday, spent the last two seasons with Minnesota but didn’t see any regular season action over that span. The product of Southern Miss (2013-14) and Northern Colorado (2015-16) entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent of the Denver Broncos in 2017 and signed with Minnesota before the 2017 season.

The quarterback indicated he’d agreed to a deal with Arizona on Sunday.

In four preseason games this season, the signal caller completed 39 of his 51 passes for 443 yards and four touchdowns with a lone interception, registering a 120.0 passer rating over that span. He had a high of 163 yards while scoring in each of the team’s contests.

The Cardinals got a firsthand look at the quarterback in their second preseason tilt this season. In the Vikings’ 20-9 win over the Cardinals, Sloter threw for 102 yards and a touchdown on 6-of-7 passing.

Arizona added him after releasing third-string quarterback Drew Anderson on Monday. Anderson, an undrafted free agent out of Murray State, spent spring practices and training camp with the Cardinals.

Jalen Davis played three games for the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted rookie last season, recording six tackles.

At running back, Justin Davis appeared in 15 games for the Los Angeles Rams over the last two years. He took three carries for 20 yards.

Dixon is an undrafted rookie who was waived by the Houston Texans. He recorded 67 catches for 1,146 yards and 16 touchdowns over his career at Ohio State. He recorded 669 of those yards last year.

Fitts is a second-year pro who appeared in six games with the Chicago Bears in 2018.
