Phoenix Rising FC is in the news again when it comes to being named to the USL Championship Team of the Week.

The Week 28 installment included defender Austin Ledbetter and forward Junior Flemmings as honorable mention, the league announced on Tuesday.

It’s the 20th overall week that a Rising player has been recognized by the league this season. This is Ledbetter’s first appearance in 2019, while Flemmings is receiving league recognition for the fourth time this year.

Phoenix played two matches in Week 28.

The first was Wednesday’s 1-0 win away to Las Vegas Lights FC in which Ledbetter won six of eight duels, made two keys passes and completed 48 of 53 passes (90%).

Saturday’s 4-1 win over LA Galaxy II was the second match of the week.

Flemmings won 14 duels while notching a brace, bringing his goal tally to 13 on the 2019 campaign (tied for eighth-most in USL).

“To be honest, just credit to the team,” Flemmings said after training on Tuesday.

“Without them, I would never be able to be mentioned. All those mentions, all those comments and all those features always come back to the team in terms of how good the team is performing. And when the team is doing good then individuals will stand out.”

Phoenix Rising returns to action on Saturday away to second-place Fresno FC. The two sides drew 0-0 in their last matchup at Casino Arizona Field on April 6.

Rising is just seven points away from being guaranteed the Supporters’ Shield and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be audio-streamed on ArizonaSports.com.
