Phoenix Suns unveil new Orange Statement Edition jersey
The Phoenix Suns have finally unveiled what they’ve been teasing on social media for some time: the new Orange Statement Edition all-orange uniforms.
The Suns add an orange top and shorts combo to their uniform selection, featuring the Suns’ primary sunburst logo on the front of the jersey in place of where the “SUNS” or “PHOENIX” text would normally be. Below the logo is a players’ number, and the shoulders feature PayPal and Nike logos, as is the case with their other uniforms.
The team said in a press release that the Suns will wear the all-orange uniforms every Friday during the 2019-20 season, with the exception of a Dec. 27 contest against Golden State. On those Fridays, fans are encouraged to wear orange gear.
Free orange t-shirt giveaways were scheduled for Friday afternoon at CityScape in downtown Phoenix, at First Friday on Roosevelt Row in Phoenix “and at other various locations throughout the Valley” this season. The jerseys themselves will be available for purchase on Oct. 20.
The uniform was inspired by the “Planet Orange” nickname and was intended to pay homage to the “Seven Seconds or Less Era,” which saw the first Suns team to wear orange uniforms.
The shorts appear to feature black, white and purple accents, while the top features only purple accents around the arms, neck and down the sides.
The shorts also have the “PHX” text on the front of the waistband, a look that has been featured on other Suns jerseys of the past.
