The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Sunday that right-handed pitcher Taijuan Walker has been reinstated from the 60-day injured list.

Walker will start Sunday’s season finale for the D-backs against the San Diego Padres. It will be his first appearance since April 2018 after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

“He’s super excited about it,” manager Torey Lovullo said Saturday ahead of Walker’s start. “I think you’re going to see some real good stuff coming off that mound.”

Prior to his injury, Walker pitched in three games in 2018 where he allowed five earned runs in 13 innings. In his first season with the D-backs in 2017, Walker made 28 starts and finished the season with a 3.49 ERA.

Walker will pitch one inning and left-handed pitcher Alex Young will follow.

In a corresponding move, the team transferred outfielder David Peralta to the 60-day injured list. The team previously placed Peralta on the 10-day injured list on Aug. 24 and underwent season-ending shoulder surgery Aug. 30.
