Despite the Seattle Seahawks getting the better of the Arizona Cardinals, running backs David Johnson and Chase Edmonds were the bright spots on offense in the first half.

Through the first three games for the Cardinals, Edmonds had five carries for 22 yards.

In the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Seahawks it was a different story.

Edmonds had five carries through the first three games. On the first drive alone, he had three carries for 20 yards.

Johnson had one carry for five yards and two receptions for 13 yards on the first drive as well.

On the first drive of the game, Edmonds posted three carries for 20 yards. Along with Johnson, the duo propelled the Cardinals offense down the field until they settled for a missed 43-yard field goal attempt.

On the second drive for the Cardinals, Kyler Murray tried for Johnson once again, but Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney picked off the rookie and ran it back for a touchdown.

Last week, Murray didn’t respond well after his first interception in the third quarter of last week’s 38-20 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Until that point, the Cardinals had kept pace with Carolina, but it opened the door for Carolina to cement their lead.

This time around, Murray came out to lead the offense on a 12-play, 60-yard which ended in another field goal attempt.

Before the end of the first quarter, Johnson caught a pass over the middle from Murray for 31 yards to put Arizona on Seattle’s 20-yard line.

Murray found Johnson five times on that drive for 46 yards. Meanwhile, handed off once to Edmonds for six yards.

As the Cardinals pulled up 4th-and-5, they brought in Gonzalez who was good on a 33-yard attempt to put Arizona on the board.

Johnson finished the first half with 87 receiving yards on six targets and six carries for 14 yards. Edmonds led the team in rushing with five carries for 36 yards.
