The Arizona Cardinals reportedly brought in a linebacker for a workout this week.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, former Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens LB Shane Ray was in for an ‘early-week workout’ with the team.
Ray, 26, played for then-Broncos head coach and current Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph during his time in Denver.
Over the course of four seasons with Denver (49 games), Ray compiled 94 tackles and 14.0 sacks to go along with two passes defensed.
Ray’s best season came in 2016 as the linebacker made 48 tackles and 8.0 sacks. That season also marked the lone year Ray played in all 16 games.
The Broncos decided against picking up Ray’s fifth-year option heading into this season, making the linebacker a free agent. He eventually signed a one-year deal with the Ravens but was a casualty of the team’s cutdown day. In four preseason games with Baltimore, Ray made two tackles and had 0.5 sacks before being released.
