With No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 11 Texas set to face off Saturday, the rivals are preparing for a showdown.
The rivalry is also heating up in the Arizona Cardinals locker room.
Quarterback Kyler Murray’s locker was desecrated with about 40 Texas signs and the message “The eyes of Texas are upon you” in all capital letters at the top. The former Oklahoma star posted a picture of it to his Instagram story with the caption “SMFH. Boomer!”
The primary suspect is linebacker Jordan Hicks, the only former Texas player on the Cardinals roster.
On Wednesday, Murray said the two didn’t have any bets on the game at that time, though they’d probably make one later. It seems as though any pleasantries there may have been in the bet are off.
Murray played against Texas twice in his Heisman-winning 2018 season.
The Longhorns were the Sooners’ lone regular-season loss that year, but Oklahoma got them back in the Big 12 Championship game. Murray went 25-for-34 for 379 yards and three touchdowns and was named the MVP of the game.
Hicks played two games against Oklahoma while attending Texas. As a freshman backup, he had one tackle. Hicks didn’t get his next chance until he was a fifth-year senior, and posted 10 tackles in the game.
