Brandon Aiyuk’s monster first half against Washington State saw the receiver take a career-long, 86-yard reception to the endzone, giving the senior receiver his second touchdown of the game.

Aiyuk finished the half with four catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns and seven catches for 196 yards in the game. He would add a third touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Sun Devils beat Washington State 38-34,

Arizona State quarterback Jayden Daniels finished the game with 363 yards, three passing touchdowns and no interceptions and the go-ahead rushing touchdown with :35 left in the game.

Daniels got off to a slow start as the Sun Devils dug a 10-0 hole in the first quarter until the freshman quarterback began to find Aiyuk. At the half, the game was tied 17-17.

The offensive rhythm in the second quarter helped the Sun Devils pull even after a strong start by Washington State.

After allowing Washington State points in their first two drives, ASU took control in the second quarter as Aiyuk and Daniels connected on a 40-yard pass play for the first touchdown and followed it up with the 86-yard slant route for the second touchdown with less than two minutes left in the half.

The Sun Devils would then tie the game up as time expired for the break on a 31-yard Christian Zendejas field goal.

The Cougars’ high-powered offense led the country in passing yards per game coming into the contest with 450 ypg.

Quarterback Anthony Gordon threw for 218 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in the first half for WSU.
