Usually when three of the team’s best players don’t log a minute, preseason or not, the squad’s already behind the eight ball.

Luckily for the Phoenix Suns, Saturday night’s contest in Portland called for rain in the forecast.

Hitting a preseason-high 24 shots from beyond the arc, the Suns fired early and often, taking down the Trail Blazers 134-118.

The Suns didn’t do it with just one player, either, as five players ended the evening with at least three treys. In the team’s previous two games, the Suns combined for just 13 3-pointers. They made the most of their attempts in the win, hitting 53.3% of their looks (24-45).

It was a welcome sight to see for Suns fans as Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton and Ricky Rubio did not play due to rest.

Leading the way for Phoenix was the trio of small forward Kelly Oubre Jr., Tyler Johnson and Cameron Johnson.

The three combined to go 11-17 from deep, with Oubre pacing all Suns players with 19 points. The power forward and guard chipped in 18 each.

In addition, power forward Frank Kaminsky had 16 points, hitting four of his seven shots from beyond the arc and dishing out eight assists in 29 minutes. He also had six rebounds.
