The Bank is going to look a little different come Nov. 5.

Arizona State announced Tuesday it has reached a five-year partnership with Desert Financial Credit Union, resulting in the re-naming of Wells Fargo Arena (University Activities Center). It will be called Desert Financial Arena.

The arena houses men’s and women’s basketball, wrestling, gymnastics and volleyball.

“Desert Financial is committed to communities throughout Arizona, as we are, and especially focused on education,” ASU president Michael M. Crow said in a press release. “These shared values form the foundation of a very strong relationship and represent a partnership based on much more than naming an arena.”

Included in the partnership is an annual investment of $1.5 million from the credit union to the school.

“Desert Financial Credit Union’s connection to education comes from our founders; a group of Valley teachers who started with just $78.75 between them. They created an institution that would be of service to educators and students alike,” president & CEO Jeff Meshey said in the release.

“We carry that legacy with us today because we believe strong communities are built by citizens who have received a good education. Our relationship with ASU will strengthen that commitment and be an asset to our employees and our members.”

According to the press release, the partnership begins Tuesday, with new signage for the arena going up Nov. 5 when the ASU women’s basketball team tips off. The men’s team will play its first home game on Nov. 14.
