Rookie quarterback Kyler Murray was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday for his Week 6 performance, making him just the second Arizona Cardinals rookie to take home that honor.

Murray threw for 340 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions on Sunday in a 34-33 win over the Atlanta Falcons. He didn’t take a sack and by completing 27 of 37 throws had a passer rating of 128.2.

The quarterback also rushed for 32 yards on 11 carries.

The No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft became the second Arizona rookie to win NFC Offensive Player of the Week since running back Ronald Moore was honored with the award twice in 1993.

Murray is the eighth Arizona rookie to earn any weekly honor.

Kicker Chandler Catanzaro (twice, 2014), cornerback Patrick Peterson (2011), running back LaRod Stephens-Howling (2009), receiver Steve Breaston (2007) and kicker Bill Gramatica (2001) all won the honor for their special teams work in past years.

Defensive back Lonnie Young (1985) earned the NFL Defensive Player of the Week award as well.

Murray is the first quarterback in the Super Bowl Era to throw for 20 or more completions in each of his first six NFL games. He is the third rookie who threw for 300 or more yards three times in his first six outings as a pro.

He has compiled 1,664 yards through the air, competed 64% of his passes and thrown seven touchdowns to four interceptions so far in 2019. Murray also has 238 yards on the ground and is averaging 6.1 yards per rush.
