In a rainy and cold Salt Lake City, Arizona State could not get get anything going against a stout Utah defense as the teams battled for the pole position in the Pac-12 South.

The Sun Devils cut Utah’s 14-0 halftime lead to 14-3 in the third quarter, but Utah was able to ice the game with a fourth quarter touchdown run by Zack Moss to give the Utes the 21-3 lead they would end the game with.

Freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels struggled in one of his worst showings this season, completing just four of 18 passes for 25 yards, no touchdowns and 1 interception.

Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who logged seven catches for 196 yards and three touchdowns last week against Washington State, failed to make a catch against Utah.

The team gained just 136 total yards thanks in most part due to Eno Benjamin who rushed 15 times for 104 yards as the Sun Devils were unable to find the endzone.

Coming into the game as 14-point underdogs, the Sun Devils were able to keep things close thanks to four turnovers forced by the defense.

A missed field goal with 12:15 left in the fourth quarter by Christian Zendejas and then a fumbled punt by Jack Jones with 8:38 left essentially iced the game for Utah.

With the high temperature in the 40’s, rain and strong winds, weather may have played a role in the six total turnovers in the game, including four fumbles.
