After his status was up in the air all week, Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson is officially active for the team’s Week 7 matchup with the New York Giants.

Johnson had been dealing with back and ankle injuries over the last two weeks, missing practice on Wednesday and was a limited participant on Thursday and Friday.

In a game that could see a heavy dose of running the football due to weather, it’s a big addition to the Cardinals’ game plan.

This season, Johnson paces the Cardinals on the ground, running the rock 76 times for 298 yards and two touchdowns. He’s also been a big factor in the passing game, catching 30 balls for 315 yards, second to only Larry Fitzgerald on the team, and three touchdowns (first among Arizona pass catchers).

Joining Johnson off the injury report are DL Zach Kerr, TE Maxx Williams, LB Dennis Gardeck, P Andy Lee, S Charles Washington and OL Josh Miles. The group had been listed as questionable leading up to Sunday.

Not all the news was positive, however, as wide receiver Christian Kirk will miss his third straight game due to an ankle injury.

Kirk caught 24 passes for 242 yards in the first four games of the season before going down with the ankle issue in Week 4.

Damiere Byrd, KeeSean Johnson and Andy Isabella should see an uptick in reps with Kirk sidelined.

Addition inactives include DL Zach Allen (neck), OL Brett Toth (illness), RB D.J. Foster (hamstring), LB Ezekiel Turner (hamstring), Ramik Wilson, Lamont Gaillard and Michael Dogbe.

On the other side of the field, the Giants will have two key pieces to their offense back in the fold in RB Saquon Barkley and TE Evan Engram.
