After interviewing for the Arizona Diamondbacks’ vacant pitching coach job, former Reds manager Bryan Price was offered the role, but declined, per the Athletic’s Zach Buchanan.

Price held the same position with the D-backs from 2007-09. During his tenure in Arizona, the team went from first in the NL West in 2007 to last in 2009.

Before he was on the D-backs’ coaching staff, he spent six seasons as the Seattle Mariners pitching coach from 2000-06. After his time in Arizona, he served as the pitching coach of the Reds from 2010-13, eventually being named the team’s manager in 2014.

As the Reds manager, Price coached four straight losing teams. He was relieved of his managerial duties after his team began the 2018 season with a 3-15 record.

It is now unclear where the D-backs are at in their search for a new pitching coach.
