The Miami Dolphins can finally give former Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche a proper look.

Miami activated Arizona’s 2016 first-round pick off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on Monday, giving Nkemdiche a chance to debut at the midway point of the season after he showed up to training camp with the Cardinals out of shape in July.

The Miami Herald’s Armando Salguero reports Nkemdiche will be active for a Monday Night Football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Nkemdiche, who tore his ACL toward the end of last season, was cut by Arizona soon after camp opened and then picked up by the Dolphins.

But even by late August, he was still out of shape.

According to Salguero, Nkemdiche attempted to run gassers prior to Miami’s preseason game on Aug. 23 but couldn’t complete half of one. A gasser is two up-and-backs across the width of a football field.

Before Nkemdiche appeared at Arizona training camp out of shape, he went through a tumultuous offseason that included two traffic stops. He was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding.

Nkemdiche played in 22 games over his second and third NFL seasons, tallying 43 tackles and 4.5 sacks, the latter of which all came last year.
