After eight weeks of NFL football, Pro Football Focus graded all 2019 first-round draft picks, including the Cardinals’ Kyler Murray.
Murray, who was taken No. 1 in April’s draft, received an overall grade of 72.2. His pass grade is 68.1 and his rushing was graded at 76.5.
Although he didn’t complete a passing touchdown in the team’s Week 8 loss to the Saints, Murray still found success throwing downfield, an attribute that contributed to his grade.
He found much more success throwing downfield than he did last week, as he went 6-for-11 for 131 yards and a 93.5 passing grade on throws targeted 10 or more yards downfield in Week 8, just a week after going 1-for-5 for 12 yards and 43.5 grade on the very same throws.
Midway through the season, the rookie quarterback has thrown for 1,988 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions.
PFF’s highest grade was given to the Oakland Raiders No. 24 overall pick, Josh Jacobs.
The running back out of Alabama was given a grade of 90.8 after rushing for 620 and four touchdowns through eight weeks.
Murray and the Cardinals take the field at home Thursday night against No. 2 2019 draft pick Nick Bosa and the undefeated San Francisco 49ers.
Bosa, a defensive end out of Ohio State, received a grade of 86.3 from PFF and was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 8.
