Arizona Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds has been ruled out for Thursday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury made the announcement at his press conference on Wednesday.

It should come as no surprise after it was reported earlier this week that Edmonds could “miss a few weeks” due to a hamstring injury.

The backup running back has 295 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the year, three of which came in Week 7’s 27-21 win over the New York Giants, his first of two consecutive starts.

On Monday, the team traded for Kenyan Drake from the Miami Dolphins, the third running back to join the Cardinals in the last two weeks.

That move would be followed up by D.J. Foster being placed on IR due to a hamstring injury, adding to Arizona’s running back injury woes.

The Cardinals’ 116.5 rushing yards per game is currently ranked 14th in the league, while their 4.8 yards per carry is No. 9.

Kingsbury said David Johnson is “still working through” his ankle injury and will be a gametime decision, but it will be “running back by committee” with Alfred Morris set to be active.

Offensive lineman Justin Murray will also be a gametime decision.
