TEMPE, Ariz. — The Arizona Cardinals have made a decision with one of their injured rookies.

The team placed injured defensive lineman Zach Allen on the injured reserve Wednesday morning, effectively ending his season.

To fill the open roster spot, Arizona elevated defensive lineman Miles Brown to the active roster.

Allen recorded eight total tackles and one stuff in four games this season before going down with a neck injury that has sidelined him ever since.

He was drafted out of Boston College in the third round (No. 65 overall) by the Cardinals in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Brown rejoins the active roster after already playing in three games for the Cardinals. The undrafted rookie made two tackles in the contests. The lineman has been on the team’s practice squad since Oct. 3. He will wear jersey No. 72.

In addition, the Cardinals signed linebacker Vontarrius Dora, cornerback Sojourn Shelton and offensive lineman Ian Silberman to the practice squad.

Dora returns to Arizona after spending the preseason with the team prior to being released on Sept. 3.

The linebacker played in three games for the Cardinals in 2018 and accumulated three tackles and one pass defensed in that time. Dora also spent 2017 with the Cardinals practice squad after going undrafted out of Louisiana Tech and playing just one game for the Denver Broncos his rookie year in 2016.

Shelton is also another undrafted free agent that has formerly spent time with Arizona.

Coming out of Wisconsin in 2017 — where he started a school-record 51 games and tied a school record by playing in 54 career games — the cornerback was released by the Cardinals before spending his rookie campaign on the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad. In August, Shelton signed and spent the preseason with the Philadelphia Eagles before being released on Aug. 30.

Silberman, 27, was originally a sixth-round pick (No. 190 overall) by the San Francisco 49ers out of Boston College in 2015. The 27-year-old also played in two games for the Oakland Raiders last year after spending time on both the Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans practice squads.

Silberman spent this offseason with the Panthers and Indianapolis Colts.
