This year’s edition of the Territorial Cup is set for Saturday, Nov. 30, and will air on ESPN with an 8 p.m. kickoff at Sun Devil Stadium.
The matchup will have massive implications, as both the Arizona State Sun Devils and Arizona Wildcats are currently fighting to become bowl eligible.
Arizona State (5-5; 2-5 Pac-12) has been chasing win No. 6 since Oct. 19 now, as the Sun Devils’ skid has climbed up to four consecutive defeats following Saturday’s 35-34 loss to Oregon State. The Sun Devils will be hosting No. 6 Oregon this week.
The Wildcats (4-6; 2-5 Pac-12) have also been struggling of late, losing their fifth game in a row on Saturday, a 34-6 thrashing at the hands of No. 6 Oregon.
Arizona hosts No. 7 Utah this week and a loss would end the Wildcats’ dreams of playing in a bowl game for the first time with Kevin Sumlin at the helm.
But even if Arizona isn’t able to get the win over No. 7 Utah, that won’t stop the Wildcats from trying to give the Sun Devils the same fate if ASU isn’t able to get its sixth W of the season against the Ducks.
ASU leads the all-time series 49-42-1 and has won each of the last two matchups with 2018 being the first in the Herm Edwards era. The home team has gone 5-1 the last six years.
