Arizona hoops holds steady at 14th in latest AP Poll

The Arizona Wildcats advanced to 6-0 on the year and sit at a steady 14th in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll released Monday.
Sean Miller’s squad survived a touch-and-go game against South Dakota State on Thursday to win 71-64 before beating Long Beach State in a 37-point rout Sunday.
Wildcats point guard Nico Mannion averaged 18.0 points and 6.0 assists per game, while big man Zeke Nnaji backed his fellow freshman by posting 16.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Arizona remained at No. 14 in the standings as the top-25 underwent few changes from the week prior.
Last week’s sixth-ranked team, Maryland, swapped places with North Carolina to jump to No. 5 as there were no other moves among the top 16 teams in the nation.
Duke solidified its grip on No. 1 after it blew through California before beating Georgetown 81-73 on Friday to win the 2K Empire Classic at Madison Square Garden. Those performances on back-to-back nights helped earn the Blue Devils 53 first-place votes from a 65-member media panel which voted on the Associated Press poll released Monday.
Louisville received seven first-place votes and remained second, followed by Michigan State with four No. 1 nods. Kansas remained fourth while No. 7 Virginia, which beat Arizona State 48-45, received the other No. 1 vote.
Up next for Arizona is a trip to Anaheim for the Wooden Legacy Classic that begins with a Thursday game against Pepperdine.
