Diamondbacks announce plethora of staff changes

The Arizona Diamondbacks have had a busy offseason thus far behind the scenes.

On Monday, the D-backs released an announcement that they made a slew of staff promotions, hirings and role changes throughout the organization.


·   Mike Fitzgerald was promoted to Vice President, Research & Development from Director, Research & Development.

·   Cesar Geronimo was promoted to Vice President, Latin American Scouting and Player Development from Director, Latin American Scouting.

·   Peter Wardell was promoted to Director, International Scouting from Assistant Director, International Scouting.

·   Kristyn Pierce was promoted to Assistant Director, Scouting and Baseball Administration from Coordinator, Amateur Scouting & Baseball Administration.

·   Ian Rebhan was promoted Assistant Director, Amateur Scouting from Coordinator, Amateur Scouting.

·   Max Phillips was promoted to Coordinator, Baseball Operations from Analyst, Baseball Operations.

·   Ronald Rivas was promoted to Coordinator, Dominican Republic from Scout, Dominican Republic.

·   Andrew Allen was promoted to Area Scout from the Scout Ahead Program.

·   Gabriel Hernandez was promoted to Professional Scout from the Scout Ahead Program.

·   Pedro Hernandez was promoted to Area Scout from Part-Time Scout, Puerto Rico.

·   Alex Lorenzo was promoted to Assistant, International Scouting from Diversity Pipeline Fellow.

·   Mike Meyers was promoted to Area Scout from the Scout Ahead Program.

·   Mark Reed was promoted to Minor League Catching Coordinator & Short-Season A Hillsboro Coach from Rehab & Catching Coach.

·   Ross Seaton was promoted to Assistant Pitching Coordinator/Pitching Analyst from Pitching Analyst.

New hires:

·   Carl Gonzalez was hired as a Diversity Pipeline Fellow.

·   Gary Hughes was hired as a Professional Scout.

·   Jon Lukens was hired as an International Crosschecker.

·   Hector Otero was hired as an International Crosschecker.

·   Michelle Riccardi was hired as the Team Performance Dietitian.

·   Matt Roffe was hired as an Analyst, Player Personnel.

·   Ronald Salazar was hired as a Scout, Venezuela.

·   Luis Silverio was hired as a Rookie-Level DSL Coach.

·   Eduardo Villacis was hired as a Rookie-Level DSL Pitching Coach.

Role changes in D-backs’ scouting department:

·   Diego Bordas is moving into the newly-created role of Professional Scout, Dominican Republic from International Scout, Dominican Republic.

·   Jack Goin is moving into the role of Major League Scout from Professional Scout.

·   Rick Matsko is adding Crosschecker, North Carolina & South Carolina while also serving as Area Scout, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

·   Aaron Thorn is moving into the newly-created role of Developmental Professional Scout from Player Development Intern.
