The work to get into the best possible bowl game is now over the Arizona State Sun Devils.
The Sun Devils defeated rival Arizona 24-14 on Saturday, wrapping up the season with a 7-5 record and 4-5 mark in the Pac-12.
In the latest predictions, ASU is picked by two different outlets to make the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.
Both ESPN and Sporting News have that matchup against Wake Forest, who went 8-4 this season and 4-4 in the ACC.
The bowl game, officially called the Tony The Tiger Sun Bowl — you know, like the cereal Frosted Flakes — takes place at noon on Dec. 31.
Other predictions include the Holiday, Redbox and Las Vegas Bowl.
There will be a storyline to monitor for the Sun Devils as they get closer to their bowl game and actually play in it.
The team let go of offensive coordinator Rob Likens after the win over the Wildcats, choosing to not have Likens coach out the rest of the season in the lone postseason game.
Arizona State is considering former Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson for the job, head coach Herm Edward confirmed to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s Doug & Wolf on Monday.
“I’ve known Hue for quite some time,” Edwards told Doug & Wolf on Monday. “So we have a relationship, but we haven’t decided who the coordinator’s going to be yet.”
According to The Athletic’s Doug Haller, wide receivers coach Charlie Fisher and tight ends coach Donnie Yantis will also not be brought back.
