Arizona State guard Remy Martin was named Pac-12 Player of the Week and Arizona freshman Nico Mannion was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.
Martin, a junior, scored a career-high 33 points in the Sun Devils’ dramatic win over Princeton, including his assist that set up the go-ahead three-pointer. He was 9-of-14 from the field in the game and scored 23 of his 33 points in the second half.
It’s the second time that Martin has won the award.
Mannion, who was also nominated for player of the week, was the MVP of the Paycom Wooden Legacy tournament. In three games, Mannion averaged 16.3 points and shot 19-of-37 from the field. The Wildcats won all three games and the tournament, which include an opening-round victory over Pepperdine in which Mannion had 16 points and 11 assists for his first career double-double.
The freshman from Siena, Italy, had 24 points in the semifinals against Penn and finished the weekend with nine points and seven assists in the title game over Wake Forest.
Arizona freshman Zeke Nnaji won the award the first two weeks of the season.
Arizona State plays at San Francisco on Tuesday and is back home on Saturday against Louisiana while No. 12 Arizona has its biggest test of the season yet on Saturday when traveling to No. 18 Baylor.
