Phoenix Rising FC has signed former Orange County left back Owusu-Ansah Kontor pending league and federation approval, the club announced on Thursday.

Kontor, 26, becomes Phoenix’s second signing in three days, as the team was able to capture the signature of former New Mexico United forward Santi Moar on Tuesday.

Per club policy, the terms and details of both contracts were not disclosed.

“I’m really happy to be part of Phoenix Rising,” Kontor said in a press release.

“Solomon Asante has been telling me a lot about Phoenix Rising, especially the supporters. I can’t wait to give everything to the club and the fans.”

“The competition for playing time will be fantastic with this team,” manager Rick Schantz said in a Tweet.

“Owusu-Ansah is a very talented LB who is a good passer and very good defender. I’m excited for the fans to see how the team is coming together again.”

Kontor spent the last two seasons with fellow USL Championship side Orange County SC where he notched two assists in 40 matches (3,171 minutes), including 22 starts in 2019.

From 2016-18, he tallied 1,475 minutes in 19 appearances for AEL of the Greek Super League (top flight).

The 26-year-old left back has also played professionally in Ghana and Serbia.

Kontor becomes the club’s 14th signing ahead of the 2020 campaign.
