GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Arizona Cardinals will not be leaning on new faces at cornerback Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Rookie Byron Murphy (shoulder) and third-year pro Kevin Peterson (calf) will join starter Patrick Peterson and Chris Jones in the rotation at State Farm Stadium.

Peterson and Murphy appeared on the Friday injury report and were limited at that day’s practice with their respective injuries.

Their statuses forced Arizona to promote corner Jalen Davis to the practice squad just in case one or both of Murphy and Peterson weren’t able to play. That could have thrown the Cardinals in a bad position after just releasing veteran corner Tramaine Brock Sr. last week.

Davis is inactive against the Steelers.

So too are rookie receiver KeeSean Johnson, rookie safety Deionte Thompson, LB Kylie Fitts, rookie OL Lamont Gaillard and Josh Miles, plus recently-acquired TE Dan Arnold. All of them appear to be healthy scratches.

Like Murphy and Peterson, center A.Q. Shipley was also limited Friday after being hit with an illness that also affected other offensive linemen, including J.R. Sweezy, but head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Shipley was expected to be OK.

Kingsbury also said Friday that safety Jalen Thompson cleared concussion protocols earlier in the week. He was also listed as questionable but practiced in full Friday.

Pittsburgh’s list of inactive players for the Week 14 game is as follows: WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee), RB James Conner (shoulder), QB Paxton Lynch, CB Artie Burns, LB Tuzar Skipper, RT Chukwuma Okorafor and TE Zach Gentry.
